Our founder, Roberto Palomo H., was a passionate shoemaker with a dream: to provide affordable, high-quality footwear for the people of Central America. In 1953, he founded ADOC Company, pioneering the footwear industry in the region.
The original idea behind our founder’s work was to create tough, durable footwear for fieldwork. Over time, the brand expanded to offer both casual and formal footwear, meeting the evolving needs of a wide range of customers. His efforts not only created thousands of jobs but also made a lasting impact on countless families across generations.
The second generation shared the same passion and focused on growing the business. Together, they set a new course by founding DURAMAS Footwear Company, which became recognized in the global shoe industry for its high-quality products, specialized constructions, and expert craftsmanship.
Through continuous innovation and adaptability, DURAMAS not only met international standards but also emerged as a regional leader in both variety and specialization — rooted in techniques like genuine handsewn, Goodyear welt, toe lasting, and Strobel construction.
Over the past decades, the company has honored these traditions across generations, manufacturing footwear for some of the most respected brands in the world.
